Abstract

A disturbance which became Tropical Cyclone 05A was first noted on the 7th November,1994 by Significant Tropical Weather Advisory (ABIO) at 9N 54E. It was embedded within a widespread area of convection associated with broad troughing.

This layer shows TC05A hitting two Somalia Districts, Bossaso and Eyl, on 20thNovember, 1994. The storm produced a maximum wind speed of 104Km/hr(65mph).

The storm's high winds and rainfall  were catastrophic to the districts. It killed 30 people and injured hundreds of others. Several boats and homes were washed away.
